It's been a while

My kids are growing way too fast. I guess every parent must have felt the same way as I do at some point. I was with Hallie this afternoon. She wanted to tag along in my meeting and I just couldn't say no because i know she's been in the house for most of the time this summer and I also know a quick out-of-the-house activity would be therapeutic for her. I listened as she talked about many things. She babbled about how she doesn't want to get a haircut after we passed by a salon, she asked if she can eat a burger after passing by Jolibee, she requested to ride a jeepney or taxi incase she gets tired after I told her that we will walk all the way from JY to the templex . I told her to wait outside the room while I attended my meeting and she quietly complied except that she asked for some coins to buy ice cream at the canteen. (Oh my girl!)

After my meeting, she reminded me that I promised to buy her a burger and to which I did but  first told her we will have to walk our way back to Jolibee. She didn't complain. I bought what she wanted, she ate heartily and graciously thank me for taking her there.

Looking at my daughter today, alot of things were on my mind. Thoughts about what she can become, her choices, her dreams! Am I supporting her? Sometimes I take lightly the things she says because I feel that they may be fleeting. But what if those are really her dreams? Am I leading her into the path where she can soar high? These feelings overwhelm me tonight as I looked at her. Oh my dear daughter, I hope you know how much your mama cares for you. I hope I have told u enough and made u feel it enough.

My son, Helaman, is one of a kind. The past few days he has been incessantly telling me to check out some fidget spinners online because they want to own one. I didn't take heed to what he was saying because buying a toy is not really on my  list right now. School fees, books and requirements to buy are my priority. Perhaps he understood that he can't make me buy him one so he search for DIYs on the net and followed it. He excitedly came up to me and told me of his accomplishment. I am so proud of his initiative. He even made one for his sister! 

The following day, he got some innovations and added little coins on each of the spinners to add weight and make it spin faster! What a boy! His sister was quick to follow after. Before i left to do some errands this morning, my lil' girl walk up to me and put something in my bag. She said "mama, im putting my fidget spinner in your bag so that if you feel stressed, you can take it and play with it!" I laughed and thank her for her gesture and then made a quick look in the mirror..do i looked stressed? Then i brush the thought and said to myself what does my daughter know about stress anyway? Haha!

The boys gave me a hug and told me to be sfae and quickly come home. As i walked out of the house today, i thank my Father in heaven for giving me wonderful kids.. I am truly humbled to be called their mama!

My firstborn Henry just melts my heart. He is entering 7th grade this schoolyear and i know he really wants to own a phone. He has one- an old phone handed down by his uncle. It seems to be not charging properly so we took it to a shop and had it checked. We found out that the phone was no longer in good condition and thus won't be useful anymore. We walked away and i saw how disappointed he was. I told him that his dad and i will discuss about him owning a new one but it may not be a smart phone. This has been a point of discussion in our family for the past few months now. I know its important to stay connected in cases of emergency but phone use can also be abused when unmonitored. Anyway, we havent made a final say on this matter so i told Henry he may have to wait. One of the traits i like about him is that he can wait. I love that. Eversince he was a little boy, he was never demanding.

When we arrived home, I offered him something. I asked him if he is willing to teach Reading to his sister for an hour three times a week and in return im going to pay him. He smiled and cheerfully agreed. When we talked about his salary he blurted out, can I buy a cellphone when i get my pay? Haha..smart idea but not quite..

Anyway, i am thankful and touched to see him patiently teaching his sister and also his cousin Reading. I am proud of how he is growing. I couldn't ask for a better kuya!
